MLP Dota 2 Animated Card: Invoker

Throughout history, there only existed four ponies who held the title of ‘Grand Magus’: Aghanim the Magnificent, Rubick the Cunning; Aghanim’s Son, Twilight Sparkle, and arguably the most famous of them all, Starswirl the Bearded. A Grand Magus with a twist, Starswirl didn’t achieve the rank the same way the others did. For he never understood the magic that came from friendship — which was strangely an extremely foreign concept to him. Instead, he learned the numerous spells successors had forged and mastered.

What gave Starswirl his notoriety and the uncontested title as ‘the most powerful unicorn in the history of Equestria’ were his invocations. By breaking down every spell he learned into their most basic elements; regents, he saw that he could simply combine the regents into the spells he wanted and need not memorize the exact incantation of every spell. This granted him uncontested versatility and power. While other mages would be lucky to cast two spells within a minute, Invoker could cast five in the same span of time.

Starswirl casted an uncountable amount of spells, one of them being the spell of eternal youth; Sempiternal Cantrap. When he had hoof-picked his favorites, Starswirl was only left with ten incantations, all of them made up by different combinations of the regents Quas; the fortification of a glacier, Wex; the speed of a fleeting storm, and Exort; the power of a malignant volcano.

Yet, with all this power, Starswirl mysteriously vanished without a trace. Even as centuries passed, his name was still spoken by mages in adoration. Many assumed he had died, though several ponies spoke in hushed whispers that they had seen Starswirl wandering around the woods, dressed in his signature blue constellation cloak at the same time that Twilight Sparkle ascended to the rank of ‘Grand Magus’.

Is Starswirl looking for a challenge? Or is he hoping to forcefully take back his title as the most powerful unicorn in all of Equestria? Nopony knows. But even though his motivations may be hazy, everypony agrees on one thing; his power is legendary, and a clash with Twilight Sparkle, the unicorn who mastered the magic of friendship, would be exactly what the ‘Invoker’ would want.
