Nurse Redheart was a name that every household in Ponyville knew. From the poorest to the richest, her appellation was uttered in grand tones about how she seemed to be able to heal those that were within an inch of their life. She had cures for any ailments. From colds and cuts to poxes and lacerations, the awe-inspiring healer known as Redheart was loved by the entire village.

Until that fateful day, Redheart witnessed a patient rolled into the hospital, who had most of his limbs blown clean off. The doctors worked quickly, and while they managed to save him, it left him in a state where he could never move again. The young nurse visited the unfortunate soul one day and immediately, he begged to be released from the prison that used to be his body.

Redheart stared at the tortured soul, a soul that was trapped in a body that could no longer function and, with a heavy heart, put him to sleep.

She quickly realized what she had done, and framed it up to fool the staff into thinking it was an accident. The plan worked, and the doctors wheeled his corpse away to be given a proper burial. What everypony failed to see was how that changed Nurse Redheart. Over the course of the next two months, the hospital suffered more ‘accidents’ than they ever had for the past few years. Seemingly fallen knives, overdosage of medicine and more left the ponies in Ponyville mortified. It continues on until one day, the young nurse is seen no more.

She was convinced the world needed her, that the world needed an angel of death to bestow upon the gift of release. As such, Nurse Redheart slinked into obscurity. Her name becoming a faint whisper only muttered in tales told around a campfire. As the years passed, many assumed she was dead, and they weren’t wrong. When Nurse Redheart reappeared, her skin was a sickly green and everywhere she trotted, an aura of death surrounded her, killing any plants or animals that came within a radius around her.

Trotting along the battlefields of Equestria, she grips her head in pain as the cries of tortured souls laid strewn all around. With a tight grip on the scythe that she wields in her right hoof, she brings the gift of death throughout Equestria, letting souls free from their pained and frail bodies. For while the name ‘Nurse Redheart’ has become a myth, the name ‘Necrolyte’ is all too real for those that have crossed her path.
