MLP Dota 2 Animated Card: Outworld Devourer

Those strong enough to survive Tirek’s magical onslaught, were driven insane and often returned to him as a thrall. It was through this, and his strategically brutal mind, that Tirek made his conquest, until there was little more in the Outworld left for him to take.

No one knows when it happened but one day, during the height of Tirek’s sovereignty, a black portal appeared at the foot of his palace. He peered into it himself, and saw a land so beautiful, so radiant, so full of joy that Tirek was almost too overcome with glee to move in and take it for his own.

He took with him only the most powerful and elite warriors of his cadre. Always arrogant in his abilities, he intended the conquest of this world to be a challenge for himself, refusing to send in his full army. As the horde of demons stepped from the portal, the first light cast on his hate filled eyes was not from the sun, but from the gleam of a white city on the summit of a mountain.

Its inhabitants knew it as Thoroughsalem; after their genocide, Tirek dubbed it the Midnight Citadel. Within the once holy halls of Sun Summit Keep, Tirek made his seat of power and turned the prince of its former masters into his own servant using the same vile magic he used to conquer his dimension. Tirek would have attacked Canterlot next, had Celestia and the Elements of Harmony not destroyed him first and sent his demons back to the outworld.

In spite of his downfall, Celestia knew that something as powerful as Tirek could never truly die, and so she commissioned for a special urn to hold his ashes in. The urn was to be transported to the prison Tartarus, where it would stay in its farthest depths.
